composition
Each film coated Finpecia tablet contains 1mg of Finasteride.
Finpecia is available in blister packs of 10 tablets.
description
Finpecia is a potent inhibitor of enzyme 5-alpha reductase.
elevated levels of 5-alpha reductase have been shown to be
responsible for increased levels of DHT ( Dihydrotestosterone
) which in turn can lead to male pattern baldness ( Androgenetic
Alopecia ). The overall concentration of dht is decreased
by approximately 60% in patients taking 1mg of Finasteride
daily.
indications
Finpecia is an effective treatment for male pattern baldness
( Androgenetic Alopecia ) for men suffering from mild to moderate
hair loss of the vertex and anterior mid-scalp areas. Recent
test results have shown that Finpecia is also successful in
reversing a degree of frontal hair loss. This point is of
particular interest to men disappointed in the limited ability
of Minoxidil to stimulate frontal hair growth.
dosage / administration
one Finpecia tablet ( 1mg Finasteride ) to be taken daily,
with or without meals. If you forget to take Finpecia, do
not double up on the next dose to catch up. Skip the missed
dose and take the next tablet as normal. Finpecia is no more
effective if you take more than one a day. Finpecia should
be taken on a daily basis for a minimum of 3 months for beneficial
effects to be noticable. There should be a marked decrease
in the amount of hair loss with hair regrowth occuring from
3 months onwards. many users report a significant regrowth
of lost hair after 6 - 12 months.
side effects
Side effects from the use of Finpecia are generally mild.
these include decreased libido and impotence in 2% of users
( an insignificant number as 1.3% of men who took the placebo
during clinical trials experienced the same problems ),
and decreased volume of ejaculate. These side effects disappear
if Finpecia is no longer taken. Interestingly, they also tend
to disappear in most men who continue to take Finpecia.
warnings and precautions
Finpecia should never be taken by women. It is also possible
for finasteride to be absorbed through the skin, therefore
it is inadvisable for women to handle the tablets especially
if they are crushed or broken. If a woman is pregnant or plans
to become pregnant, any contact with finasteride by a developing
male fetus may result in abnormalities of the genitalia. Finpecia
should also not be taken by men who are actively planning
a family.
A blood test called PSA ( Prostrate-Specific Antigen ) for
the screening of prostrate cancer can be affected by taking
Finpecia. if a psa test is undertaken, it is imperative that
your doctor is informed that you are taking Finpecia.
Also, medical advise should be taken if there is any history
of liver disease, as finasteride is metabolised extensively
in the liver.
